MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) - A judge has agreed to order a second mental evaluation for a 17-year-old boy charged with killing his high school principal.
Attorney Leslie Ballin requested permission for another psychological evaluation for Eduardo Marmolejo during a court hearing in Memphis on Monday.
Ballin told Criminal Court Judge Otis Higgs that Marmolejo did not cooperate with the psychiatrist during his first evaluation. Higgs agreed to order another evaluation.
The teen has pleaded not guilty to adult first-degree murder charges in the fatal stabbing of 49-year-old Suzette York in August 2011. She was Marmolejo's principal at the private Memphis Junior Academy.
York's body was found in a pool of blood in a classroom on the third day of school. An autopsy showed she had cuts to her head and neck.
