MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) – Here’s a story that is just plain odd. A guy was arrested, accused of trashing a hotel room near the Memphis airport.
He said demons made him do it.
“He pulled one of our routers out,” said Airport Inn employee Harry Khatrao, “and said it looked like fingers pointing at him through the roof. That’s when I knew he was crazy.”
Khatrao was talking about Mabry Guenther, who was arrested for trashing room 126 at the Airport Inn.
“There was several inches of water in rooms and all over the hall,” said hotel manager Lali Singh.
“The microwave was in the tub; the phone in the freezer,” added Khatrao.
“He punched the walls here,” said Singh, revealing several big holes and ripped out sheet rock.
The damage was estimated at more than $10,000.
But, according to the arrest warrant there may have been some outside influences. Mabry told police he destroyed the room "because demons were there and the ghosts told him he had to let them out.”
“The guy started running from one officer,” said Khatrao, “he said keep the white cop away from me, he’s got demons.”
Could it be true? Abc24.com brought in its own experts: Memphis Paranormal Investigators.
“I got a really creepy picture,” said Mary Dacus, revealing a photo of her husband Steve, taken inside the trashed room.
“I’m see-through!” Steve exclaimed.
“You’re transparent,” Mary confirmed.
“This is absolutely abnormal,” Steve told abc24.com, “I’ve never seen a picture like that.”
The photo was taken within full view of abc24.com news crews.
The Dacus’s believe it indicated the presence of some sort of entity between the lens of the camera and Steve.
A second photo was perfectly normal.
And more paranormal evidence turned up on audio.
Steve Dacus produced a recording device, on which he was heard to say, “The man in this room claimed to have a demon.”
That’s where Dacus was cut off and a strange sound interrupted him.
The sound itself was clearly audible, but what it might be saying was not discernible.
Nevertheless, the Dacus’s were excited.
“That’s a voice right there,” said Steve, “it was a direct response to what I was saying.”
That all sounds kind of creepy, right?
So did demons and ghosts really influence Mabry Guenther to trash the hotel room?
“I don’t know,” answered Steve, “but there does seem to be an eerie feeling in this room.”
Guenther was taken to The MED, then to the Criminal Justice Center. He allegedly trashed more than his room; tearing down security cameras, fire alarms and ceiling tiles in hallways.
Hotel employees described the scene as a disaster, like nothing they had ever seen.
And don’t discount the abilities of the Dacus family; they’ll soon be appearing on a national television show on the BIO Channel, showcasing their talents.
