HOLLY SPRINGS, MS (abc24.com) - A suspect in several church burglaries throughout north Mississippi was captured, then quickly released in Miami, making the third time he's eluded investigators in Marshall County.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Department was informed that Jerome Totten was in custody in Miami on Monday, October 15. Moments after issuing a news release on Totten's capture, a sheriff's spokesperson stated Totten had been released around 4:30 p.m. that same day.

Jerome Totten was wanted for burglary and felony evasion warrants. He's also wanted for questioning in about a dozen Mississippi church burglaries in Marshall and Tate counties.

Marshall Co. Sheriff Kenny Dickerson stated they are still working to determine the circumstances leading to his arrest and release in Florida.
