SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - Most people feel like there's nothing they can do to ease the gas price squeeze. One Southaven man has an idea on how to solve the problem, and it involves you doing nothing - nothing at all.

Don Daniels is asking "for everybody to stay home on March 15 and 16 and not buy any gas," he tells abc24.com.

"I believe we'd see so much gas left over that they'd probably be pouring it out in the street and claiming they still have to raise prices," he says.

"They definitely need to come down," says driver Charlie Roberts.

"I was going from a truck to my motorcycle just to save gas," adds Willie Roberts. "It was killing us."

Not everyone thinks Daniels' idea will work.

"Things still have to go," says Willie. "You still have to go to work; you still have to get your kids, stuff like that."

But Daniels sees support behind his pump protest.

"People are honking their horns and waiving," he says.

That's why you'll see him again. Daniels plans to stand out at the busy street corner every Tuesday and Friday until March 15 to get the word out.

"It's got to start somewhere, so let it start in Southaven, Mississippi," he says.

"The way gas keeps going up who knows?" says Willie. "Pretty soon we'll all be trying to do public transit I guess."

Unless you're staying home like Daniels.

Kinda the same thing is achieved when people have less money to do other things...going out to eat, other entertainment. Then the economy slows down and even oil producing countries (we should be one) get worried.

This guy is wasting his time. It's a novel idea, but one that will never work.

Blame the Guy that vetoed the Keystone Pipeline and the EPA that keeps us from drilling our own oil. Ask Chuck Schmure why he wants Hillary to ask Saudia arabia to increase production when we are told it will not work here? Why did this same person give Brazil 2 billon dollars to drill in the ocean so we might be their best customer? Why does George Soros own so much of this Brazilian Company? Why is Mr. Buffet profiting from the Keystone Veto? Could it be he owns the Railroad that will be transporting this oil. Could someone please tell Mr.Buffet to pay the Billion in taxes he had owed for 10 years before he tells us we should pay more? Hey guys. Google this stuff. Do your homework.

if i did not live so far from work i would walk and or ride a bike.cannot do it, people seem to hate bike riders anyway, i would hate to get hit. it is too far anyway. This person has a good idea but people who work those days cannot do it, you have to work, pick kids up, etc... it is hurting everyone. i wish we had an answer too
