SOUTHAVEN, MS (abc24.com) - Most people feel like there's nothing they can do to ease the gas price squeeze. One Southaven man has an idea on how to solve the problem, and it involves you doing nothing - nothing at all.
Don Daniels is asking "for everybody to stay home on March 15 and 16 and not buy any gas," he tells abc24.com.
"I believe we'd see so much gas left over that they'd probably be pouring it out in the street and claiming they still have to raise prices," he says.
"They definitely need to come down," says driver Charlie Roberts.
"I was going from a truck to my motorcycle just to save gas," adds Willie Roberts. "It was killing us."
Not everyone thinks Daniels' idea will work.
"Things still have to go," says Willie. "You still have to go to work; you still have to get your kids, stuff like that."
But Daniels sees support behind his pump protest.
"People are honking their horns and waiving," he says.
That's why you'll see him again. Daniels plans to stand out at the busy street corner every Tuesday and Friday until March 15 to get the word out.
"It's got to start somewhere, so let it start in Southaven, Mississippi," he says.
"The way gas keeps going up who knows?" says Willie. "Pretty soon we'll all be trying to do public transit I guess."
Unless you're staying home like Daniels.
