Animal Control Officer Walks Away from Starving Dogs

There are big questions about why a Memphis Animal Control officer left two starving dogs in the yard of a house in Highland Heights. Three days later one dog was so hungry it ate one of its pups. It's just one more example of ongoing problems at the Memphis Animal Shelter.

There are a lot of people who would LOVE this job, and do it the right way. Time to quit going through the motions and clean house, get rid of the people who don't appreciate the fact they have a good-paying job and hire people who will actually do the work they were hired to do!!

Sickening. David Johnson should be locked in a cage until he is nearly starved to death. Memphis is like a tird world African country, totally SICK and UNCIVILIZED.

So sad that people who work for The Animal Shelter have such low regard for the animals they are supposed to protect.

These city officials who are going after and getting people's votes only care about one freaking thing and that is to dwindle the dollars out of this city's citizens, take away community centers in areas that need them the most, close libraries that them the most, and skimp on the police department to fight as little crime as they have to, so you know doing the right thing by a poor defenseless animal that cannot help himself is about as far down the totem pole as you can get. This city is going NO WHERE until there are some good decent blacks who will go in office to do what they are put there for instead of drying up every dollar for the sake of the people who live in Memphis. This is NOT a racist comment but the black officials do not even care about the crime in their own black communities which is the worst all through this city, but do NOTHING but turn their backs and hope it goes away. Herenton drained the pool dry with his own litter he does not half support but sure was able to buy some fine HOMES all over town for his entire family! THIS is where our tax money goes. All they do is sit on their buns and collect THEIR own $$$ incentives given to themselves, their friends/neighbors who are their employees, and so on...He!!...give me some dam meds. This city really pisses me off! The animals are better than the human-animals who get our taxes and for nothing...as always! Sick of this town!!!

" "Right now I don't know what happened with this case, that's why we are investigating to determine what happened," said Shelter Administrator James Rogers." REALLY??? Are you THAT OBTUSE??? What's "happening", is the SOS (same old S***) - just "under new management". This POS Johnson should have been discharged LONG AGO: Now, this little pup's death - and the continued suffering of the other dogs - are on HIS head: As a public servant with Animal Control, he must be held to the same standard as any other citizen when it comes to companion animal neglect and abuse. In fact, he should be held to a HIGHER standard: In order to SET an example, the authorities must MAKE AND EXAMPLE ... of HIM! In addition to his abuse of animals, charge him with dereliction of duty.. and through the book at 'im - along with anything ELSE you can get your hands on! SHAME ON YOU, ACO Johnson - and a continuing SHAME ON YOU to MAS for STILL failing in your responsibilities toward companion animals!

What everybody seems to forget is that unless you committ murder, you cannot be fired from a government job. There are DHS workers in Hardeman county taking FS away from struggling families, because they can, and you expect Memphis to do anything about a poor starving dog, even though it is their job!!!! There is no justice in our God forsaken country, and if I had the money I would move to another country. The muslims are doing their best to drive God out of America so they can run it. They are doing a good job. If they put people in jail for hurting animals for life, maybe they would stop hurting people too!!!

I've said it before: You can't shame s*it. You can't shame our city "leaders" either. This is what you can expect when you let ignorant animals be in "charge"; they care no more for animals than their own, multiple spawn.

maybe it's time the only qualification to work the animal control facilities is being an animal lover. it is quite apparent the people working for all of the animal control and shelters do not love animals. i hope they treat their children and parents better than the helpless animals. animal cruelty should be as severe as murder. it's murder if you forget your child in a hot car and it dies, why is a dog any less deserving of justice?

Another MAS employee apparently incapable of compassion for animals. How many more before it's enough?
