Pitbulls bred to fight---like coonhounds bred to track raccoons, dachshunds bred to dig tunnels, collies bred to herd sheep, and German Shepherd Dogs bred to protect properties. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THEM ARE FAMILY PETS and never perform what they were originally bred for. Don't use that argument to justify dog fighting; you just make yourself look stupid.

Seriously people. . . Joe Worker is obviously trying to make a joke, so get a grip. Sarapooh, Pitbulls actually are meant to fight. It's what they have been bred for. I'm not supporting dog fighting, I'm just saying that is what man created that breed of dog to do, just like a schnowsier is bred to eat rats and greyhounds to run. I have to agree about the city employing unsuitable people for the job. While I'm not one of them, there are lots of hippies out there who would love to work with animals. Unfortunately, I think you have to meet certain qualifications in order to work for the city of Memphis. From my experience, you have to be black, Obscenely fat, extrememly lazy, and very very rude.

What the hell does Willie Herenton have to do with what has happened here? What does PIMPS have to do with this story? You get what you pay for....who goes to college so they can work at a dog shelter??? If you think you can get better people then I have a plane parked at fedx I want to sell you...real cheap.

JoeWorker, something is seriously wrong with you- besides your lack of education (learn to spell or invest in a dictionary). Starving and abusing dogs so they'll fight with each other is not the best form of exercise. Just a heads up. You are a shining example of much of what is wrong with Memphis.

Hey Memphis! Please stop hiring thugs! I'm tired of paying the salaries of criminals. What's your newly re-elected mayor doing about this problem? He's moving in a "very calm, composed manner." You re-elected him folks. I said this years ago. You were going to get Willie Herenton in a nicer suit. There are thousands of people like my mom who would LOVE to have a job at the shelter. Instead the jobs go to THUGS and PIMPS on parole. I guess THUGS and PIMPS on parole need good jobs and insurance too. Buying snazzy new outfits to wear to your dog fighting events costs money. I'm glad that my tax dollars pay for THUGS and PIMPS to look nice while they're committing crimes at work.

dogs need exercise and jive too, taking them to a dog fight is like going and being in the circus and who don't like circus fun? what needs to be prosected is the blatant descrimintion in taking some to the circus and others left back at the shelter Shame!
