MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - They can dance for now, just not forever, as the Babes of Babylon strip club prepares to reopen on Friday, October 14th, 2011.
The club was raided in September, the second time in less than a year. The Shelby County District Attorney's Office said it hoped to close the club permanently. The club argued, somewhat successfully, the issues that led to the raid were the dancers' fault, not the club's.
Under the deal, Babes must do background checks on all workers, beef up security and close private or VIP rooms.
At the time of last month's raid, Memphis Police said they had visited the club six times and had witnessed club employees performing sex acts in exchange for money.
Club owner Lance Lester had no comment outside the club the night before it was to open back up for business.
Under the deal, the club must surrender its' business license and close for good in June 2012.
