MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Wonder Bread is one step closer to making a comeback. A bid by Flowers Foods to buy several Hostess brands was accepted by the now bankrupt company Wednesday.

The brands include Wonder Bread, Nature's Pride, and Home Pride breads.

Hostess products have not been produced since the company filed for bankruptcy in November and laid off nearly 19,000 employees, which included more than 250 in Memphis.

Any deal still has to be approved by the bankruptcy court and regulators.

If the sale is approved, you still won't see Twinkies or Ding Dongs on shelves just yet; Hostess plans to hold separate auctions for its snack cakes.
