Bartlett Man Charged with Murder in Wife's Death

BARTLETT, TN - On Saturday, May 2, 2009, Bartlett Police formally charged Thomas Pate with second degree murder in the death of his wife, Micah Denise Pate.

The 26 year-old nurse was reported missing on Thursday night, last seen while walking her dog.

Less than 24 hours later, investigators discovered her body in Northeast Shelby County along the Loosahatchie River, just off of Brunswick Road. Bartlett Police tell myEyewitnessNews.com that Thomas Pate admitted to accidentally shooting his wife and led them to her body.

Thomas Pate is being held in the Bartlett City Jail. No bond has been set. It is not known at this time when Pate will make his first appearance in court.

Dang, that Mary Winkler (who murdered her preacher husband) off the hook and OJ Simpson got away with muder does not mean that everyone will. Now they all think they will get away with murdering their spouse. Dang, people what really happens is that they will get you and you will go to prison for a long time. I disagree with slowhand who is advocating censorship. I suggest that those who might feel hurt by these resonable comments in favour of punishment should use their discretion and not read them. How's that?

I'm with you mcelwain. I know the Pate's as well. This is horrible news all the way around. But those of us who know Thomas are only hurt worse by comments like "fry him" and "death penalty". That does not serve anyone. so please, keep your hateful comments to yourself. Until all the facts come out, please just pray for all of those involved. Micah's family. Thomas's family. And those who knew and loved both of these young people.

just understand that both sides of the families are probably looking at these comments too and its not helping them grieve any easier by these comments. RIP-MICAH PATE...a beautiful new angel in heaven who was taken too soon.

thomas and micah didn't have kids..... I grew up with the Pates and know the entire family very well. My heart hurts for both side of the families and I pray for sensitivity from the public and media as the families are grieving.

this POS needs to ROT in jail where he belongs. if they were having problems, he could have just walked away, there was no need to shoot her then lie about it.
