MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Veterans at the Memphis VA Medical Center got quite a treat Wednesday, October 5, 2011, a surprise one on one with blues legend Bobby Rush.

It was all smiles and hand shakes at the hospital, along with a few pictures too. Rush choose to give a little something back to those who gave so much.

“I'm in love with the veterans and what the veterans have done and what they plan to do,” Rush told abc24.com.

It was certainly thanks that was much appreciated.

“All too often veterans feel as if they've been forgotten and I think this is just a small token to show how we don't forget our veterans,” said hospital director, James Robinson.

For Rush, it was least he could do for the men he calls; heroes.

“I'm here to salute all of them,” said Rush.

Thanks to Bobby Rush for his support. I am a veteran and greatly appreciate him and his endeavors. This Saturday he will give his Red, White and Blues festival for the benefits of veterans at the Overton Park shell. Veterans get in free of charge.
