MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A body was found at McKellar Lake after a Memphis man went missing there Saturday.
Nehemiah Crenshaw went fishing on McKellar Lake the morning of Saturday, August 18. Memphis police found the body around 9 a.m. Monday near the mouth of McKellar Lake by the Mississippi River.
Police have not identified the body, but Crenshaw’s family members were visibly shaken up at the scene.
The marina owner says Crenshaw came to McKellar Lake often.
“The man was quite familiar with the lake. He's been here so many times. Based on the way we found his boat, I suspect he had a heart attack or a stroke,” said Larry Stanley, the marina owner.
A man found Crenshaw’s empty boat Saturday afternoon and crews began searching for the missing man shortly after.
Stanley says it’s been years since a body was found on the lake. An autopsy report is still pending.
