DYERSBURG, TN— A body was found in Dyersburg Saturday afternoon and it may be that of a missing woman. Family and friends of Karen Swift are on edge, waiting to find out if the body is hers. She's the 44 year old mother who vanished 2 months ago. The body was found less than 5 miles from the Swift family home. Investigators say the body is badly decomposed and needs to be identified by the medical examiner's office in Memphis.

This could be the big break in solving the Karen Swift case. Dyer County deputies rushed to a wooded area where a decomposing body was found. Investigators are not saying if the body is male or female nor would they say who found the body. Deputies blocked off Harness Road between Burnt Mills and Craig Roads. It's just a few miles away from Karen Swift's home and where her car was found.

The mother of 4 disappeared on Halloween night. Investigators found her abandoned car with a flat tire, just a mile from her house. Crews searched the area for weeks with bloodhounds and on horseback but no sign of Karen Swift.

Swift was in the middle of a divorce but the two still lived together. Investigators never named her husband as a suspect.

"He doesn't have that type of heart," a friend of the family Angela Naifeh told abc24 news a few weeks ago. "He loved her. He didn't want the divorce. They've already been through one prior. He's a good person who is heartbroken and crushed and doesn't know what to do."

TBI searched the family home, retrieved phone records, and other evidence was sent to a crime lab. This case has made national news, even appearing on the Nancy Grace Show. Perhaps this latest discovery will provide some answers to Karen's family and friends. Abc24 news went to the Swift's home Saturday night and the family refused to talk with us. The Dyer County Sheriff says the medical examiner should release the identification of that body on Monday.
