MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A woman in an argument with her ex-boyfriend pulled a butcher knife out of her purse and stabbed the man, killing him on Monday, November 14, 2011, around 10:15 p.m. in Frayser.
An affidavit says 19-year-old Ceara Edwards was arguing with 25-year-old Jeremy Swanigan when she stabbed him. The document says the two used to be romantically involved and they were arguing about a robbery in which Swanigan was a victim.
During the argument, Edwards pulled the butcher knife out of her purse and stabbed Swanigan in the chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Edwards gave a typed statement to authorities admitting to stabbing Swanigan and throwing the knife away after she fled the scene.
Edwards has been charged with second-degree murder.
