Cab Driver Fatally Shot in Robbery near Downtown Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Memphis police are searching for suspects in the fatal shooting of a cab driver Tuesday night.

Officers were called to a shooting near St. Paul Avenue and Lauderdale Street around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14. When they arrived they found a gunshot victim slumped over in the driver's seat of a Yellow Cab.

The victim, later identified as 50-year-old Kevin Grills, was transported to The MED in extremely critical condition but died a short time later. Investigators say Grills crashed into a fire hydrant after he was shot inside his cab during a robbery.
