MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - One suspect was taken to the hospital and a second suspect is in custody after crashing a stolen car Tuesday morning in the Berclair area.

The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23 on Summer Avenue between Holmes and Vandalia. The suspects hit another vehicle, with a one-year-old girl inside, while speeding through a red light right. She and the other passengers are ok, but the same can't be said about the suspects. They lost control of the car and slammed into a utility pole.

Memphis police say it all began when the suspects carjacked a man on the 1700-block of Walter, not too far from the crash. Responding officers caught up with them moments later as the suspects made their getaway and collided into oncoming traffic.

"I was just sitting in my office - I got the front office right here - and we heard a loud thud then screeching as the car slid all the way from the light down into where it stopped," described witness Adam Higham. "Within seconds the cops all surrounded the vehicle ran up with guns drawn and then yanked them out of the car and put them on the ground."

One of the suspects was taken to the hospital after the crash the other was taken directly into custody. Police also recovered two guns inside the stolen car.

The suspects' identities have not yet been released.

Glad the small child and other victims are ok. Glad they were caught and had a bit of natural consequences of their stupid actions as well. Work, save money and buy your own ride....ever thought of that!!!!
