CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (abc24.com) - A savage attack caught on video. The victim: A 50-year-old mentally disabled man. The suspects: Two girls, just 13 and 14-years-old.
In the video, one of the girls can be seen grabbing the man, known around town by his nickname "Cool Breeze," and hitting him repeatedly.
"They jumped on me man. I'm too old for this," Crocker said.
Crocker's family says he suffers from a mental disability, but adds that he is totally harmless.
"It don't matter where he is at, he'll just start dancing... that's just... Cool Breeze," said Francetta Lacey, Crocker's first cousin, as she laughed.
"He is a normal person, just a little different," she added.
It isn't clear when the video was shot, but Caruthersville Police Chief Tony Jones said the video came to his attention Tuesday night.
"My first reaction was something needs to be done," said Jones.
The girls posted the video on Facebook, something Jones credits with launching the investigation.
"We probably would have never known about it if they hadn't had done that," Jones said. "It is what I will call stupidity."
A man appears in the video, and he was arrested Wednesday on unrelated charges.
Jones said he'll meet with prosecutors and the unidentified man could face charges related to the video.
Meanwhile, the two girls are set to make their first court appearance Thursday morning.
