WEST MEMPHIS, AR (abc24.com) - A Marion mother remained free on just $5,000 Friday night, after charges against her related to the August 2011 death of her husband were upgraded from manslaughter to murder.
"I always knew she murdered him, but there is proof now, that's why they upgraded the charges," said the victim's mother, Nina Andrews.
According to police, Stanley Andrews was shot in killed inside his Marion home in late-August 2011. Police say Andrews' wife Kristin called police to report she had shot her husband following a fight. Kristin Andrews was arrested and originally charged with Manslaughter. At the time, her bond was set at $5,000.
In a hearing on Friday in Marion, Kristin Andrews was charged with murder. However, her bond remained at $5,000.
Nina Andrews says she hopes the bond isn't that low because Kristin Andrews is the daughter of the head of the Crittenden County Sheriff's Department's Patrol Division.
Prosecutors aren't commenting on the reason, but Nina Andrews says it has to to with her son's autopsy.
"I will be ok, because I know she will eventually get locked up. It is just going to take a couple of months until it is over," Nina Andrews said. "We'll get there."
Kristin Andrews is due back in court in July.
