MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - An 8-year-old child was injured when several suspects broke in the front door of a Cordova home and exchanged gunfire with the homeowner.
Memphis Police were called to the 1400-block of Leafhaven Cove around 8:45pm on December 6, 2011. When they arrived, they found an adult male victim in the home with a gunshot wound. He was transported to The MED in non-critical condition. An 8-year-old child had also been shot in the shoulder, and was taken to Baptist East Hospital by private vehicle in non-critical condition.
Investigators state that four to five suspects busted down the door and began firing shots. According to reports at the scene, the suspects posed as police officers and yelled "Narcotics" as they kicked in the door. The victim grabbed a gun and several shots were exchanged. The suspects fled the scene on foot before MPD arrived on the scene. Blood found trailing from the home indicate that at least one suspect may have been injured.
