MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A 3-year-old child was hit by a school bus Thursday afternoon in south Memphis.

The accident occurred at Carlton Road and Keen Road just after 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 10.

The bus involved was taking students home from Shrine School, a Memphis City School for children with disabilities.

Investigators say the boy was playing in a wagon at the top of a driveway as his mother walked down to meet a child on the school bus. The boy rolled down the driveway in the wagon and was hit by the bus as it was coming to a stop.

The child was transported to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to non-critical condition.
