MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Memphis church is clearing the air about a Whitehaven man accused of having sex with a 15 year-old girl.
The Lakeview Community Temple Church of God in Christ confirms Orlando Wallace is a church elder, not a pastor.
Wallace is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor and aggravated statutory rape.
Police say Wallace waived his rights and admitted to having sex with the teen while another 15-year-old girl filmed the act, and sending her nude pictures and videos.
Neighbors and police initially claimed Wallace was an assistant pastor at the church, but church leaders say he is only an ordained elder.
Wallace has been relieved of his ministerial duties until the matter is completely resolved.
