MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Code changes under consideration by the Memphis City Council would allow people to teach limited classes in their homes.
Memphis and Shelby County Planning Director Josh Whitehead told The Commercial Appeal the language of the proposal closely follows recent changes to Nashville-Davidson County codes.
If approved, residents would be allowed to teach not more than four students per hour without a permit. A limited-use permit would be needed to teach between five and 10 students. Teaching more than 10 students would remain prohibited.
The Shelby County Commission is also considering the change and has public hearing and second reading scheduled for July 30.
