MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A jury has convicted a Memphis man for a 2008 restaurant robbery spree.
29-year-old Rickey Groves, aka Rickey Hughes, was found guilty on four counts of robbery and four counts of using a firearm in commission of a robbery. The charges stem from four armed robberies in southeast Memphis in April and May 2008: the McDonald's at 3377 Winchester, the McDonald's at 1755 Getwell, the Popeye's at 4720 Showcase Blvd, and The Kettle at 4139 Winchester.
The crimes fell under federal prosecution since the businesses engage in interstate commerce, known as he Hobbs Act.
Rickey Groves is scheduled to be sentenced on December 16; he faces a minimum of 1284 months, or 107 years, in federal prison.
