MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Cordova man got quite a surprise Friday morning when he discovered all four of the tires on his car had been stolen. As it turns out, he wasn't the only victim.

Memphis police say two people had all their tires stolen at an apartment complex in Cordova early Friday morning, April 20. Neighbors say it also happened to a few other people at a nearby apartment complex. Now they're thinking twice before parking their cars at home.

"I got up at 6 [a.m.], my regular routine, headed out the door around 6:45 and came out to see this," said theft victim Ian Vaughn.

All four of Vaughn's tires were stolen in the middle of the night. It happened right outside his window at the Lincoln at Wolfchase apartment complex.

"They were nice enough to put bricks on both sides. It could've been a lot worse; they could've broke in my car."

He's only owned his 2008 Infiniti for 3 months. Now, he can't even drive it.

His neighbor, Robyn Kirkland, told abc24.com, "I'm shocked and it kind of scares me that I can be sleeping 100 feet away and that happens outside my bedroom window."

No one heard a thing. According to police reports, crooks snatched tires from a 2004 Nissan Maxima at this same complex.

MPD says it's not an unusual crime, but in the last 4 months nearly a dozen different crimes have been reported in the same area.

Neighbor Landas Grandberry says he "got a little memo that they put on the apartment doors that said there have been a couple of incidents of people kicking the doors in the apartments."

As for Vaughn, he says once the new tires are on he's "definitely get lock lug nuts. They're cheap and you just have to put one on each wheel and that secures your rim."

The apartment complex manager would not comment on camera as to whether there will be extra security.

Cops are still looking for the suspects. If you have any information, call crime stoppers at (901) 528-CASH (2274).

I'm black and agree with your comments. But being honest many of us decent people are moving back into the inner city( midtown, downtown, U of M area, walnut grove area etc..) due to the fact that the "ghetto" is following those people that are trying to escape the ignorance that we're surrounded by. We ALL have something in common, we simply want to live somewhere with good neighborhood communities so we can enjoy life. You can keep going east and to Mississippi all you want but ignorance will still follow and in time take over. By ignorance I do mean ALL people from all racial groups!

This is the reality of where we live. If you want to escape this stuff then you need to move to a different time zone instead of moving a few miles east. This entire area is saturated with stupidity and lazy people. The ship is sinking.

I guess I will move a little further like Lakeland or Arlington. It's so sad you can't live in comfort of your home or apartment now or days. Thanks for the tip off. I didn't know that the section Eight(8)had been incorporated out here in Cordova. That goes to show you what people will do for money.Oh by the way, I am a black female.I just want myself as well as other hard working citizens of this community to be able to enjoy the fruits of our labor, to be able to come home, watch TV or go for a nice walk within our neighborhood, lay down at night and not have to be concerned about the rif raft or people to lazy to work and earn an honest days wages stealing working class, tax payers belongings.Theives, is that to much to ask for? Get you a job. Go rake leaves or sweep off lots or something. OH, I forgot, your job is stealing.

When the area started booming, I overheard a professional say the area would be another Frayser in a few years. By George, looks like he knew what he was talking about.

We're "refugees" from Cordova. We moved to North Missisippi, where, if we hear gunfire, it's most likely squirrel hunters. 5 years ago, anyone could see which way the wind was blowing in Cordova. Our old neighborhood Hunter's Hollow is "Hunter's Hood" now.

I can only imagine how the residents of Cordova feel...yep, its the new Hickory Hill, and they can say goodbye to their peaceful, serene way of life, no that the section 8'ers have moved in. And guess what? I'm black! This just goes to shows that the classes are not meant to integrate. They should have NEVER torn down the projects. Now, if you want the old suburban life, you will have to relocate further East. I hate this class integration!! The city gov't wsa full aware that the crime was going to travel with the tenants. Fight back Cordova!!
