Oh, sure. Let's all vote YES to a tax increase. Right. The wqorking people of this city are already robbed blind in order to support the do-nothing, contribute-nothing masses who make up the bulk of Memphis.

I have Voted for increases in taxes for schools here, now Memphis isn't paying for them anymore, are they going to refund my money??? When they started the wheel tax, it was suppose to go to Memphis City Schools but then they changed that. Not again.

Yet they stubbornly refuse to reform pension and benefit costs. All City employees should be on Social Security and Medicare (and Disability if truly deserved) with the rest of us, or at least defined contribution rather than defined benefit. Now that it's hard to get a job is a good time to impose these changes on City employees. There is also an obvious "Soak the better off to provide amenities and welfare to my poor constituents" attitude among a majority of Councilpersons. These two things are causing an exodus of the better-off, smarter, and those who just can't afford the high taxes, in favor of those who fill the City with illegitmate predatory thugs and lewd and irresponsible baby mamas, a trend that will land Memphis in receivership along with Detroit and other poorly governed cities.
