MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Club Elements has been closed down a week after an X-rated video filmed inside a private sex party went viral on the web.
A judge granted a temporary injunction to close the Hickory Hill club and Memphis police put a lock and chain on the door Tuesday, July 3.
The order comes after video of a party promoted by the group "Team Taboo" surfaced, showing several public sex acts.
Shelby County District Attorney Amy Weirich said those who filmed the video or appeared in it could also face charges.
"It is important to remember this is an ongoing investigation, the first step, necessary step, I think the public was crying out for, something to do be done, to show we are responding, and have a remedy under the law," she stated at a Tuesday news conference.
Police say they have responded to 18 calls at the club in the last two years. A court date for the club is set for Monday, July 9.
