This girl is out of control, after viewing her interview with Channel 30, she is unstable, with no conscious. She actually turned her butt up to the reporters and said how about that. Does she show any remorse for what she did of course not, my prayers go out to the victims for a speedy recovery physical and mentally and also for the defendant because she definitely needs to have a relationship with God. I am AA and I also agree with ReliginonStinks comment,if the table was turned it will be more of a racist issue.

Fear mitigates nearly any charge of lawbreaking. If she sticks to her statement of fearing retribution as her reason for fleeing, then they would not be able to get that charge to stick. The DA is right not to waste any more taxpayer dollars than she can get away with. In the meantime, this serves as a good reminder to those in Cooper-Young: stop jaywalking! Living in that area, hitting an errant pedestrian has always been one of my greatest fears. Hopefully this can serve as a cautionary tale to those who jog in the street or stumble out out of bars to their car.

@ Jim Kern – Yes, jaywalking, the absolute worst crime imaginable in this God-forsaken city, is definitely much worse than running a woman over then cowardly running away. Oh, and Shannon Parker? She’s still in the hospital because she pushed her friend out of the way to save her. But yes, lets give her the citation. Better yet, lets give this Spates a medal for being such a great human being! Obviously shes a great mother, fantastic driver, and upstanding citizen. I was going to say Spates is absolute worst product of this city, but I’m pretty sure its you.

She is the new poster child for forced sterilization. Can you imagine what would be happening right now if this had been a white woman who ran over two black people and then acted like this??? We would have rioting in the streets and Al Sharpton would already be here.

So the DA's hands are tied..How about charging her with leaving the scene of an accident? How about charging her driving without insurance? What about her past incident in April that was mentioned on WKIM this morning? Come on DA-this woman has the trifecta for motorvechicle violations on this one incident, and should be worth more than just a misdemeanor charge. Come to think about it-Memphis police can arrest someone for a misdemeanor, why not her?
