OLIVE BRANCH, MS (abc24.com) - An Olive Branch businessman wants to say "thank you" to DeSoto County. To show his appreciation, he's come up with a unique giveaway idea.

As a roofer, Wayne Sperry sees people with roofing problems who can't afford to fix them. He'd like to change that for one DeSoto County family.

"As I prosper, I'd like to see the area around me that helped me prosper, to give back to that community," Sperry tells abc24.com.

The owner of Done Rite Roofing is offering what he knows best: a free roof to someone in need.

"A 30 square roof, which is about a $7,000 value. I'd like to give it to a needy family."

He sees plenty of people struggling to afford repairs. "It breaks our heart to walk away from it and not be able to help them."

Sperry has saved up and is ready to launch his giveaway. "I'm looking for someone who truly needs it, anywhere in DeSoto County."

He is asking people to write letters telling him about someone they know who could use help.

"I'd like to know the situation. They can't self nominate themselves," he says. "It would be better if a church or a family member or someone else nominates."

You've got a while to submit those.

The giveaway starts the second week of March and will last through May.

You can submit letters online at www.doneriterr.com

Or by mail:
