A juvenile detention officer with the DeSoto County Sheriff's Office has been charged with child molestation.

48-year-old Jeffrey Benjamin Harwell was arrested by Hernando police on Thursday, July 12 and booked at the DeSoto County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Harwell is charged with one count of Molestation Touching of a Child for Lustful Purposes for an incident involving a female juvenile. Investigators will not release the victim's age or the circumstances surrounding the arrest, other than to say Harwell's position at the juvenile detention center was not a factor. He has been suspended without pay.

Lt. Mike White with Hernando police stated that there could be additional charges as the investigation continues.

Harwell is scheduled to appear in Hernando City Court on July 18.

JeffernTao, I agree with you about Frayserhick. But there is no need to insult Mississippi. There are more convicted child molestors in Tennessee than there are in Mississippi.

These white monkey's are something serious. want to go around and stick their private parts in children, stroke them like they paid for them and lusting after them. They may as well murder someone because they are killing that child's childhood. Sorry, there sick, but I guess the truth hurts! Most of the comments being made regarding colored people are just the plain, and simple truth! I can't be their savior or role model when they don't seem to want to even try. You ever think We get sick and tired of reading the racist comments on these posts regarding black people ever freakin day? Why don't you go and make that same statement to the racist rednecks!
