MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The investigation continues into a fatal car crash over the weekend involving a Memphis police officer.

Two people died in the accident and three others were injured Sunday afternoon when a Memphis police car collided with another car in south Memphis.

Investigators say a Memphis police officer was driving eastbound on E H Crump Boulevard when the accident happened. According to police, a car crossed into the intersection at Crump Blvd and Georgia Ave when it collided with the squad car.

Those near the scene of the accident told ABC24 News they heard the crash, but no sirens.

"All I heard, I was on the porch and my niece, all we heard was a loud boom. I didn't hear no sirens, no nothing," said Odessa Stevenson. "We ran up the street, the officer jumped out the vehicle, was limping and I looked over, a girl was slumped over and a few more people, so I couldn't go up, my niece and a few of my neighbors ran up, and I went back, but that's all I seen."

Two of the victims are in critical condition at The MED. The officer involved was also hurt and is being treated at Methodist Central. So far Memphis police have not released the identities of any of those involved in the accident.

When the police give you a ticket, they sometimes claim they're "trying to make the streets safer". Observe one driving for 10 minutes, and see how many traffic laws are broken. 5 minutes even. How many cruisers have they torn up? How many innocent citizens have been killed or injured due to their recklessness?
