DRUMMONDS, TN (abc24.com) - A Tipton County Sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave after he shot and killed a suspect threatening him with a gun.
Deputies Ryan Magee and Tyler Huesling were called to a home on Pryor Road in Drummonds on a domestic violence call around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, July 23. When they arrived on the scene, the deputies walked up to the home and were met by 31-year-old Charles Scooter McRaven, holding a long gun. He was ordered to drop his weapon but refused. When McRaven acted as if he was about to fire his weapon at the deputies, Deputy Magee shot him.
An ambulance was called and pronounced McRaven dead on the scene.
The deputies have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. The TBI and District Attorney's Office are leading the investigation.
