DRUMMONDS, TN (abc24.com) - A Tipton County Sheriff's deputy is on administrative leave after he shot and killed a suspect threatening him with a gun.

Deputies Ryan Magee and Tyler Huesling were called to a home on Pryor Road in Drummonds on a domestic violence call around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, July 23. When they arrived on the scene, the deputies walked up to the home and were met by 31-year-old Charles Scooter McRaven, holding a long gun. He was ordered to drop his weapon but refused. When McRaven acted as if he was about to fire his weapon at the deputies, Deputy Magee shot him.

An ambulance was called and pronounced McRaven dead on the scene.

The deputies have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. The TBI and District Attorney's Office are leading the investigation.

@-bigbalue----I've known Scooter every since we were 15 years old,we called each other brothers and you think you have some nerves by stating the words they did a good job! There wasn't a good job by taking a persons life! That statement shows that your a careless, person and in my eyes as well as others through out Tennesse and around different parts of the U.S.A your not worth anything, I mean not even a penny! We truly knew Scooter and yes he will be missed. So i want you to deeply think about what ur about to read since you think it was a good job on their behalf! I feel that they need to be more than just investigated,I truly knew Scooter and theres something thats not adding up with this story reguardless of what anybody says he will be missed! YOU SEE THIS IS REALITY,NOT JUST TELEVISION,THIS IS REAL! AND THE REALITY IS YOU TO CAN BE A VICTIM OF AN ACCIDENT OR A CRIME REGUARDLESS OF THE SITUATION B***H! I GUESS IF THIS WAS ONE OF YOUR LOVED ONES OR A FRIEND YOU WOULD STILL BE STATING JUSTICE SERVED! I THINK NOT BUT ONE THINGS FOR SURE THE TABLES DO TURN ON ANY PERSON,ANY ONE AND THERE FAMILY! THEN YOU TO WILL SEE HOW IT FEELS TO HEAR OR READ SOMEBODYS COMMENT SAYING JUSTICE SERVED AND I HOPE NOONE SHOWS YOU ANY KIND OF SYMPATHY! BECAUSE THERE ARE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS CRYING ALL OVER FROM STATE TO STATES RIGHT NOW AND YOU HAVE THE NERVES TO SAY THAT THEY DID A GOOD JOB! I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE KIDS OR A CHILD BECAUSE HE DID!!!!!!!! YOU MUST BE A WEAK ASS SUCKER MAKING STATEMENTS LIKE THAT IDIOT!! THIS TYPE OF BULL HAPPENS EVERY WHERE NOT JUST THERE WHERE YOU ALL ARE AT IT TAKES PLACE EVEN HERE IN NASHVILLE,TN SO WATCH WHAT YOU SAY SERIOUSLY THIS IS NOT A GAME!!!!!! IT'S VERY REAL

BigBalue- I guess the details of the incident just don't matter to you. You hastily shoot off a "Good job" to the deputies who killed my brother without even thinking that maybe he didn't have to die? I'm not sure how you can look yourself in the eye everyday knowing that you said something like that without knowing the facts. Scooter was a good person, with kids and family and the only brother I EVER HAD and now he's DEAD. He wouldn't have shot the deputy who was so quick to take his life. Instead of rushing to cheer on those who murder other people's family in the name of the law - put yourself in our shoes... if it was your brother in the morgue today, would you be wondering if maybe, just maybe, a good job would have resulted in him being able to answer in his own words to idiots like yourself who post crap like you did after the fact?

Or don't open the door to anyone unless you know them. Especially the police.

Textbook. Good job to the T.C. sheriffs department for not waiting to be shot at before taking action against this threat. THis should put people on notice that you just can't raise a firearm at the police in these days and times.
