I am so happy to see that the 2 million was approved for the Chisca redevelopment. We must preserve our past to help tourism and spur growth in the city. It is time to put money back into our city to restore the historic buildings we still have. Thanks for approving the 2 million for the project.

The DMC has money...why can't they put up the $2M? Taxpayers can't bear this burden, and it's not real economic development. Electrolux, Mitsubishi Electric were not concerned about that property. Yes, it will create jobs but it's a LOOOONNNNNGGGGG stretch to say that the redevelopment of that one property downtown will hinder ED efforts.

Steve Tapp, my hand is not in your pocket. This isn't about me. It's about rebuilding our city. If we don't invest to rebuild and maintain our city, we'll never survive or thrive. We can either give up, and leave our city blighted, or we can fight to rebuild and grow. Memphis is worth fighting for. We've spent many, many more millions subsidizing suburban development with new sewer lines, new roads, and wider roads etc., which led to the sprawl and abandonment of the city, causing the vacancy and blight. If we don't reverse this trend, and bring people and investment back into the city, then we'll never make it. This is urgent.
