MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A popular downtown Memphis hangout officially announced plans to open a second location in Overton Square this fall.
Local Gastropub, which touts upscale dining in a casual pub setting, will branch out from its downtown restaurant and bar on South Main Street with another location in the newly renovated building that formerly housed Yosemite Sam's for 39 years.
The 100-year-old building, which sits on the northwest corner of Madison and Cooper, was in dire need of structural repairs. The renovations are part of a $20 million project to revitalize Overton Square and attract new businesses.
"We are excited to be part of this exciting vision for Overton Square," stated Local Gastropub owner, Jeff Johnson, in an April 30 press release. "Downtown is a destination and Overton Square will be, too. I’m glad to be there from the beginning."
Local Gastropub's grand opening in Overton Square is scheduled for early September.
