This man takes his drug court program personally...I have seen it change peoples lives and give them the chance they would have never had if it weren't for drug court. It is genuine and actually helps rather than throwing people in jail. It is a strict program with an excellent staff and admirable counselors. Keep in mind... He never had to bring this program to Shelby County ... he is doing this to actually help people rather than throwing them at revolving jail doors, and it really works! I graduated drug court a few years ago and am forever in this programs debt! Thank you Judge Dwyer and staff --- especially the hardworking counselors that choose to change peoples lives. Richard S.

What about the fathers that are also addicted to drugs? I think this article clearly illustrates the level of discrimination in Memphis when funds are being allocated to parents wih problems. The fathers are forced to work, if they can find a job, in jobs fit for slaves. they can barely take care of themselves in this economy but child support is still being mandated to fathers unable to care for themselvrs. In Juvinile Court, I once heard an idiot of a judge tell a struggling man to go out and collect cans to pay his support since he couldn't find a job! This is how a significant number of fathers are treated in Memphis' judicial system. If the fathers were helped more, the state would have to help less!
