MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A Cordova man was arrested overnight after police say he crashed into the side of a house while driving drunk.
25-year-old Jossie Etheridge was booked at the Shelby County Jail just before 2 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16.
When police arrived on the scene on Fletcher Park Circle East, a man in the home at the time told officers he felt the house shake. When he went outside he saw Etheridge climbing out of a truck that had just run into the garage.
He said Etheridge took off, so he got into his car and followed him. A few moments later the victim pulled up next to Etheridge and asked if he needed a ride. He said Etheridge hopped in, then admitted to just hitting some "dude's" house.
The witness drove Etheridge back to the scene where he tried to run again, but another bystander grabbed Etheridge and held him until police arrived.
Officers stated in their affidavit that Etheridge passed out when they got there. They woke him with smelling salts and arrested him.
Investigators say his blood alcohol content was a .194; the legal limit is .08.
Etheridge is charged with DUI and remains in jail on a $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court October 17.
