MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A New Year's Day drunk driver had to be woken up from a deep sleep by Memphis Police after he passed out at the scene of an accident.

Officers were called to the 7500-block of Lowrance in southeast Shelby County around 7:00am where a Honda had rear-ended an unattended Chevy Blazer. When police approached the Honda, the driver, 44-year-old Samuel Norris, was asleep in the driver's seat. Officers knocked on the window, and Norris awoke not knowing where he was and unable to unlock the car door.

Police smelled alcohol on Norris, and an affidavit states that he admitted to being at a club earlier and having four rum drinks. As Norris was assisted to a paramedic's vehicle, an officer noticed he had urinated in his pants.

No other injuries were reported.

Samuel Norris was arrested and charged with DUI, striking an unattended vehicle, reckless driving, and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test. He was booked at the Shelby County Jail on $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 3rd.

Diaper or not this is not funny.I own the blazer that he hit.The shelby county sheriff deputies that responded to the call took him away with out talking to us or giving us very important information that we need to be able to get the blazer fixed in a timely manner. He has no real insurence like I have to have as a law abiding citizen, and thanks to the cops we don't even know if he owens the car he was driving. We on the other hand have a blazer that can't be driven because of the damage. What should I drive to work??

That boy, Samuel, should wear a diaper next time he decides to indulge in the fire-water....4 drinks? What a lightweight!
