MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - An elderly man visiting Beale Street added 201 Poplar to his list of attractions when he and a second man were arrested for running out on their bar tab Thanksgiving night.

Around 9:30pm, a bartender at the Tap Room flagged down Memphis Police regarding two patrons who left without paying their bill. The two men, 82-year-old Thomas Copeland and 28-year-old Eric Vaughn, were pointed out to police walking nearby at the corner of Second and Beale.

As officers approached, Vaughn began running northbound on Second. As he turned around to laugh at the officers, he tripped on a crack in the sidewalk and was captured by police.

The men's bill at the Tap Room totaled $28.64.

Both Copeland and Vaughn were charged with Theft of Services under $500. Vaughn was also charged with Resisting Arrest.
