@libertyfirst, that OFFICER was doing what she was told to do. That was her job that was required of her. I don't give a darn if it was a private residence or not. I agree that all of this was unnecessary over a Plant but my issue is with the people complaining about the city HONORING this lady because she died while doing her freakin job. And yes, she was protecting you by trying to rid the city of drugs and drug dealers!

@sickofcrap - that woman invaded a private residence in pursuit of 25 grams of a PLANT. ANYONE can bust thru a door and attack the residents - if these clowns were SMART that woman would be alive and those children would still have their mom. They didn't protect me - they enforce prohibition, which DAMAGES EVERYONE.

bluffcity, many professions unfortunatley experience fallen members of their profession, but they don't shut down a city in order to honor them. It's not the fault of the people of Memphis that the senseless murder happened. I hate to agree with Frayserboi on anything, but I tend to agree with him on this issue. There was no need for that much of the police force to be in a procession of any kind. They are needed on the streets of this crime-ridden city. Andy yes, I have every sympathy for the friends, family, and colleagues of the deceased officer. It is a terrible loss for them. I also disagree with the blocking of rush hour traffic earlier this week on Union Avenue to collect donations. The police had Union Avenue in a complete mess. Lanes were blocked and every car was forced to drive 5 miles an hour through a gauntlet of officers holding buckets to solicit donations. I'm all for taking donations, but that sort of thing should be completely illegal and forbidden.

Frayserboi, why am I not surprised to see your ignorant & insensitive comments on this story. If the public feels inconvenienced maybe they should start by complaining to Traveno Campbell & Willie Braddock, they are the ones who are responsible for this tragedy. The Sea of Blue would not have happened had they not committed their criminal acts. Maybe you would like to tell Ofc. Lang's 4 young daughters how inconvenienced you feel by the murder of their mother. The vast majority of officers present there tonight were not on duty at the time, they were there on their own time, not getting paid. They did it out a deep love & respect for a fallen Sister in Blue in order to honor her & show their love & support to Ofc. Langs family & to each other. I'm sure there were some ofc's who were on duty at the time but they joined procession for a few short minutes to show their respects & then went back to patrolling the streets & answering calls.

And the public is stuck with the bill & inconvenience during rush hour for this. How much overtime & fuel was wasted on this garish display?
