MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - The NBA is officially back at FedExForum as the Memphis Grizzlies play their first home game of the season, and fans and downtown business owners couldn't be happier.
On Beale Street, restaurants and bars stock up in anticipation. Cookie Hernandez with Eel Etcetera on Beale says the Grizzlies opening night is what's she's been waiting on.
"I think it's a good thing for Memphis and for businesses on Beale Street," she said. "We're glad the Grizzlies are back."
Ty Agee owns Miss Polly's Restaurant and Bar on Beale Street. He says the NBA came back right on time for his bank account.
"We've missed them… [I've] been antsy because I hadn't been making any money," he told abc24.com.
With the Grizzlies back at FedExForum, Agee said that "means great business… you can pay your utility bill, pay rent; it keeps your people working too and everybody's making money."
The Memphis Grizzlies play the Oklahoma City Thunder; tip-off is at 7:00pm. The Thunder have lost five of their last six at Memphis, with the 2011 NBA Playoffs three-OT game the lone victory.
