MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Shelby County investigators discovered that the man charged with DUI in a crash that killed four women on Christmas Eve had given them a fake name.
Deputies arrested a man who gave the name 'Lenard Robinson, Jr.' for rear-ending his Chevy Silverado into a Chevy Impala on southbound Raleigh-Millington near Fite Road. The impact sent the Impala swerving into oncoming traffic, where it was hit by a northbound Ford F-150. The crash killed all four women inside the Impala: Tarla Fisher, 47; Shirley Watkins, 44; Chrystal Hill, 26; Marjorie Tucker, 42. The driver and passenger in the F-150 were injured and transported to the hospital.
Investigators learned that the suspect had given them false information and traced his identity through his fingerprints. He was positively identified as Davis Brooks.
Davis Brooks is charged with four counts of vehicular homicide, DUI, reckless driving, resisting arrest, two counts of reckless endangerment, and now an additional charge of identity theft. He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $250,000 bond.
Davis is also wanted in Madison, Tipton and Dickson Counties.
