MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A family Easter egg hunt ended in chaos after a mom accused of over-coaching her kids attacked someone with a hammer.
Memphis police were called to the Shadowbrook Townhomes near Getwell and Lamar around 5:35 p.m. on April 8. According to the police affidavit, a family member thought 43-year-old Annette Pearson was helping her children too much as they were looking for the 'golden Easter egg' with $7 inside. The two began to argue and the man slapped Pearson twice in the face, the document states.
As a brawl broke out between family members, Pearson retrieved a hammer and was able to strike the man once on the head before others took the hammer away from her.
The victim was taken to Delta Medical by private vehicle where he was listed in non-critical condition; he received four staples to the head to close the wound and was released.
Annette Pearson was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault. She was booked at the Shelby County Jail on $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
