The school went smoke-free in August, but those told to put out their cigarettes are nowhere close to embracing the new policy. Students are protesting, signing petitions and still smoking.

Any negative effects from second-hand smoke generally requires a closed environment (although, a WHO study a few years back debunked the notion of such a thing). Because you walk through and get a little whiff of smoke doesn't mean you're gonna get lung cancer a week later. We have become a nation of big ol' girls. I have to breathe your car exhaust. Maybe we need law.

@ religionstinks, your liberalism is the reason for the downfall of this country. People like you want gov't intervention in our lives. You want to be told want to eat, drink and watch in your daily life. You can't think for yourself. Typical liberal, can't even take a joke.

vote2012, your comment HAS to be the stupidest post in the history of this web site. It's not always possible to walk around smoke, nor should I have to do so. Kill yourself in the privacy of your own home, idiot.

Scientific fact: 100% of all non-smokers die as well. Oh and if you don't want to inhale the smoke, then use common sense and walk around it.

Kudos to Ole Miss for taking a stand to protect people from second hand smoke. They should arrest and/or expel the viloators of the rule. Sorry, smokers, but your right to smoke ends where my lungs begin. If you want to kill yourself with your filthy carcinogens, do it at home - and hopefully you don't have kids there breathing it.

So our colleges no longer teach liberty, but conformity with the tyranny of the majority.
