ROGERSVILLE, Tenn. (AP, abc24.com) - A former treasurer at a Rogersville church must spend the next eight years on house arrest and sell her home to pay back money she admitted stealing, but she can avoid going to prison.

Erin Nicole Frost entered a plea of guilty to one count of theft over $60,000 at a court appearance Friday in Rogersville, according to the Kingsport Times-News.

Prosecutors said the 27-year-old Frost cashed about 100 checks on the Bridge Baptist Church account and stole cash from the offering plate, instead of depositing it.

Hawkins County Criminal Court Judge John Dugger ordered her to pay back $75,000 to the church. They money is to come from, among other sources, the sale of her house.

The sentence allows Frost to leave home for work.

There was over $90,000 missing from the church, and possibly much more, which she used to buy a house, cars, and go on expensive vacations. Her family obviously knew about it since the money was coming from somewhere but they were never charged. There was only hard evidence of $75,000 taken out in the form of checks. She also took cash. This is a Class B Felony, which requires a MINIMUM of 8 years IMPRISONMENT under state law, and up to $25,000 fine to the state. The judge, the lawyer, and everybody in the system are friends of hers and they made sure she doesn't spend one day in jail, and she doesn't pay one cent in fines. She also gets to keep everything she stole over the $75,000.

Pity to steal from God.....well, at least she does look remorseful, anyway....
