MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A former Memphis Police officer pleaded not guilty to federal charges of arranging drug deals while on duty and in uniform.

Michael Sinnock appeared before a judge on January 18, 2012 for arraignment. He entered a plea of not guilty on charges of possession and attempted possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Investigators stated Sinnock tried to obtain 200 pounds of marijuana on December 14, 2011. Then on Dec. 16, Sinnock was arrested after he arranged to purchase 20 Lortab tablets. Both incidents occurred while he was on duty and in uniform.

Sinnock, who had been with the Memphis Police Department since February 1998, submitted a letter of resignation on Dec. 29th. He is currently free on bond.

The pot - no big deal, other than the fact that it sounds like he was trying to set up shop with that large a quantity. The Lortab, however, indicates a dangerous drug addiction.
