MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Another Mud Island resident became the victim of crime late Sunday night, but this time the suspects didn't get far.
Around 11:30 p.m. on April 29, Memphis police received a vehicle description for suspects in a robbery that had just occurred on Island Drive. Just a few minutes later at Thomas Street near Firestone Avenue, officers pulled over a black Nissan Maxima matching the one described in the broadcast.
During the stop, an officer dialed the number of the victim's stolen cell phone and it began ringing in one of the suspect's front pocket. Another suspect then told police that a gun was in the car, which matched the description of the weapon used in the Mud Island robbery. Police also found several credit cards and a driver's license belonging to the robbery victim in a door compartment.
21-year-old Jaquaveus Prefre, 19-year-old Deshawn Ford, 18-year-old Dontavius Richard and a juvenile suspect were all arrested and charged with Aggravated Robbery. The adult suspects are being held without bond at the Shelby County Jail and are scheduled to appear in court May 1.
