MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - Rico Fleming, wanted for the Christmas Day murder of Memphis high school student Derica Patterson, was captured by U.S. Marshals in St. Louis, Missouri on January 10, 2012.
Fleming, 22, was added to the TBI's Most Wanted list after exhaustive searches of areas in North Mississippi and West Tennessee by multiple law enforcement agencies. He is accused with two other suspects in a drive-by shooting on Highway 72 near Slayden, Mississippi that killed 16-year-old Patterson and injured three others.
U.S. Marshals apprehended Fleming around 6:00pm at a relative's house, where it's believed he's been hiding out since a few days after the Christmas Day shooting. The drive-by shooting incident reportedly stemmed from an altercation at a travel center between the suspects and several of the victims.
31-year-old Corey Albright and 16-year-old Christopher Collins are already in the custody of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department on charges of murder and drive-by shooting.
Mississippi authorities are moving to have Fleming extradited back to Marshall County to be formally charged.
