At what point does a tool become a weapon. A paring knife is clearly a tool, but it could also be used as a weapon as could most tools. I can't imagine how furious this girl's parents must be.

This is ridiculous. "Zero Tolerance" rules are lazy and brainless ways to enforce policies. One size does NOT always fit all. That said, if you want to blame someone, blame lawyers and the sue-happy society they have created. If the school had not suspended her, the next time they supspended someone who actually was a threat, they would certainly have been sued by some irresponsible parent and their slimy attorney for not enforcing the rules equally.

of heard of kids out in the country bringing guns to show and tell. no body got shot, maimed, anything like that. everything was handled in house. the problem is the absense of teaching morals in the schools, or reinforcing them, not this foolishness. people need to be taught morality and you don't have to devolve into this sort of obtuse manner of dealing with people.

Good Grief....it was Germantown, and the young girl only wanted to peel an apple....everyone knows folks from Germantown don't consume apple skins!!!

'No Tolerance" = no need to think, no need to rationalize, no need to say you're sorry for wrecking a peaceful child's life. For a mistake. Thank goodness we have to pay for this, otherwise these thugs would have no money!
