GERMANTOWN, TN (abc24.com) - The word from city leaders in Germantown is to speak up and be heard. They met to discuss the pros and cons of starting their own school district.

"Smaller school districts are much better," Germantown resident Clinton Hardin told abc24.com. Hardin showed up an hour early for the packed town hall meeting at the Germantown Performing Arts Center to discuss the feasibility of starting the town's own school district.

He said, "We can take the students here in a small number and work with them in a closer manner."

Ronald Coe is also in favor of Germantown having its own school system. "I feel it will increase homes in Germantown and keep education high in Germantown," he said. "I'm very much in favor of it."

Michelle Taylor agreed. "It's good to have a choice. With all the uncertainties around the big school district it's good to have that extra choice."

Good for Germantown,,why should they have to pay for the complete failures of the city schools? Keep it up Germantown.
