MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A young girl is being called a hero after a fire Tuesday morning in southeast Memphis.

It happened in the 3200-block of Forest Brook Drive in the Parkway Village area. The girl spotted the fire while on her way to the bus stop. She stopped and began knocking on doors to alert neighbors.

Six people were inside the house; they all made it out safely.

"By the time I get through washing my face and come toward the living room, I see flames," said Bryan Huntsman, who escaped the fire. "I tried to jump through the flames but i couldn't, i had to jump out the window."

The girl who spotted the fire also claims to have seen a man running from the house before the flames erupted. Investigators are now trying to figure out if that man could have set the fire or if it was an accident.
