Girlfriend Charged in Deadly Stabbing

MEMPHIS, TN (abc24.com) - A woman is now facing murder charges after her boyfriend died from injuries he received in a domestic fight.

Memphis police were called to the 2300-block of Vollentine around 11:40 a.m. on March 29. When officers arrived, they found 27-year-old Marcus Patterson suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to The MED in extremely critical condition.

Investigators stated that Patterson and his girlfriend, 25-year-old Vannai Townsend, had gotten in a fight when she stabbed him.

Patterson died at The MED on April 5 as a result of his injury. Townsend was charged with Second Degree Murder and two counts Attempted Second Degree Murder. She is being held at the Shelby County Jail on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 12.
