"if" man will be tried in the death of his son? why would someone who has a mentally ill child even have a gun in the house? wouldn't you first try to stop the mentally ill person, and then call the police? is it open season on the mentally ill? is it ok to kill a child because they are causing difficulties for family? there is help out there. the mentally ill CAN have productive lives. it may be difficult and painful for those helping them, but it IS possible. the father had choices. when his son lay in the flower bed, he chose to end his son's life. then to say that if he had to do it again, he would do the same thing? that doesn't sound like involuntary manslaughter, that sounds like murder. what choice did patrick have?
